On July 27, 2008, Jackie Chan formally accepted a disciple for the first time. The honor was bestowed upon Jack Tu, who won the position from a pool of 100,000 applicants in a highly-publicized worldwide search in an immensely popular Chinese reality show, Jackie Chan’s The Disciple. The show was a joint production by China's BTV, Jackie Chan Film Corporation, China Film Group Corporation and Emperor Group.
Join Jack Tu and his family for a meet-and-greet, along with a private screening of the finale episode of The Disciple. Jack will speak on his experiences during the contest and will be available for interviews and photos. Jack returns to China the following day to begin his tutelage under Jackie Chan, starting with filming his debut movie, Speedpost 206. He is already contracted for two others, Won’t Tell You and Tropical Tornado. Refreshments provided. As an added facet of this unprecedented championship, The Tiger Claw Foundation collects contributions for travelling expenses of deserving qualified athletes competing in the Tiger Claw Elite Championships at the Disney Martial Arts Festival at the Milkhouse at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex near Orlando, Florida on October 24-26, 2008. Donations of $50 or more to the Tiger Claw Elite Championship Fund will receive a special edition Tiger Claw Foundation – Tiger Claw Elite T-shirt. TCEC Fund recipients will be selected by the Board of Directors of the Tiger Claw Foundation. This fund is available to any TCEC-qualified competitor and may only be used towards the championship.
